Dr. Torsten Bohn is Project Leader at the Luxembourg Institute of Health. He is also in Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Vitamin and Nutrition Research.
He has been active in the domain of micronutrient and phytochemical bioavailability and bioactivity for over 15 years. He has been involved in several clinical human trials focusing on absorption of carotenoids and minerals, as well as studying their metabolism. Additional interests include proteomics, and mass-spectrometry methods (Nano-SIMS, TIMS). Specific topic of interests are aspects of carotenoid bioavailability, including matrix release, bioaccessibility, cellular uptake and transport, as well as furhter metabolism. The relation of carotenoids and their metabolites to markers of inflammation and oxidative stress, as related to many chronic disease, is and additional interest.

Techniques routinely used:
in-vitro digestion, cell studies (Caco-2), chromatographic, human postprandial trials, proteomics/transcriptomics
