Rosa Tundis is Associate Professor at Department of Pharmacy, Health and Nutritional Sciences of University of Calabria (Italy) (http://www.unical.it/portale/strutture/dipartimenti_240/dfssn/englishvers/).
Her research interests include three major areas: a) isolation and structural elucidation of secondary metabolites of medicinal plants and plant foods, b) advanced analytical methodologies in the study of bioactive natural molecules, c) in vitro evaluation of biological activities of extracts and pure compounds of medicinal plants and plant foods. These investigations have been focused on the determination of antiproliferative activity (SRB assay) against different human tumour cell lines; hypoglycaemic activity via the inhibition of carboydrates-hydrolising enzymes alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase; antioxidant activity trough different methodological approaches (DPPH, TBARS, ABTS, FRAP, beta-carotene bleaching test, Fe2+ chelating activity assay), antimicrobial activity; and neuroprotective activity (acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory activity). The research interest also involves the investigation of the effects of plant extracts and/or pure compounds to treat disorders of skin hyperpigmentation and to prevent enzymatic browning of fruits and vegetables (tyrosinase inhibition) and the study of natural antihypertensive agents via the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition assay.
She published 121 papers in refereed international journals, which have received to date 1858 citations by the Elsevier SCOPUS® h-index of 23 - http://orcid.org/0000-0002-3713-4403
She is involved in several national and international projects. She is member of the Editorial Board of several Journals.
