Short research description: 

Our research is focusing on carotenoid biosynthesis, regulation and functions in plants and bacteria. Specific topics are: Gene discovery; biochemical charcterization; biotechnology aiming at increasing specific carotenoid production in crop plants; production of high-valuecarotenoids by fermentation of bacteria; and function of xanthophylls in plant physiology, from photosynthesis to adaptation to environmental stresses.
